Hello
I am Tracy Mainwaring, known in the online world as Tracy KM. I've decided to branch out and start selling my patterns and projects! Now you too can own a "Tracy KM Designs" original.
I learned to knit as a child, from my grandmother. I didn't really take to it at first, not knowing enough about yarn, my first project was a baby booty that would have fit a toddler. However, in my 4th year of university, my house-mates were learning how to knit, and knitting a sweater as their first project. I figured that since I already knew how to knit, a sweater would be a piece of cake. I haven't stopped since, and that was 19 years ago!
In May 2005, I bought my first knitting machine from a thrift shop. Within a year, I had acquired two more machines! I recently added another machine, and am still searching for two other machines (to replace ones I already have). I love machine knitting! Also in 2005, I decided it was time to learn to sew, for real. I started with baby slings. I now make a variety of different baby carriers, clothes, accessories, etc.
I like to use recycled, renewed, or refashioned materials in my projects. I am particularly fond of rescuing orphaned yarn from thrift shops. While this means I can't always replicate a project, it guarantees one of a kind items! I also like to use vintage patterns, or simply create my own.
I'm a proud Canadian, living just east of Toronto in Whitby. I like to support other Canadian artisans and businesses too. You can find me at my Blog, on Facebook or Contact Me through email.
Some of my items are also now available at "Beadle" in Toronto!
